The Lightning Thief (Cast A)

BlackBox Foundation Presents:
The Lightning Thief (Ages 13–19)
This is an audition-based production. Not all who audition will be cast. Casting is selective and based on the needs of the production. If you are offered a role and you choose to accept it, a $50 registration fee will be due at that time. (See contact info below for registration scholarship information)
Not all cast members will be called to every rehearsal. A detailed rehearsal schedule, including individual call times, will be provided after casting is completed.
Percy Jackson is about to discover that being a half-blood is more dangerous than he ever imagined. Based on the best-selling novel by Rick Riordan and adapted into a thrilling rock musical, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical follows Percy and his friends on a quest to recover Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt and prevent an all-out war among the gods.
Filled with electrifying songs, humor, and heart, this high-energy adventure celebrates friendship, courage, and finding your place in the world—even when the odds (and the monsters) are against you.
AUDITIONS: Saturday, March 14th 2-4pm
Must schedule an audition time. Additional information about time slots will be sent at a later date.
Please prepare:
- 30 seconds of a song to perform for the production team
- A 20–30 second monologue
- A printed headshot (preferably 4x6). (If not provided, a production staff member will take a photo after your audition.)
Everyone called back is expected to attend the full session.
Callbacks: Sunday, March 15th 2-4pm
Please note: Those auditioning may be asked to learn and perform a short section of a song from the production during either the audition or callback process.
For callbacks please come prepared with the following:
- Close-toed shoes (jazz shoes, dance sneakers, or character shoes preferred)
- Comfortable clothing easy to move in (no skirts or dresses)
- A water bottle
(A complete schedule with individual call times will be sent after casting.)

Mondays & Wednesdays: 7:30–8:30pm, Saturdays: 1:30–3:00pm

Cast provides their own costumes unless otherwise noted.
Please bring a water bottle, snack, pencil, jacket, and highlighter to every rehearsal.
Because of limited rehearsal, and the rehearsal schedule being per-group, we will be taking attendance very seriously.
The registration fee is non-refundable.

Youth Theater Day Camp
with Emmi Rakoci
BlackBox Foundation is proud to present our
2026 Youth Summer Day Camp
The BlackBox Day-Camp is an enriching summer camp dedicated to teaching children grades 2nd-8th all aspects of performing arts. Students will learn everything from acting, improv, and dance, as well as set and costume design, plus so much more! The 8 day camp starts June 8th, 2026, at Mission Heights Preparatory High School, and continues through June 18th. The camp runs from 8am to 3pm, Monday-Thursday, and consists of six class periods, a snack period, and a lunch period. (Students will provide a lunch and a waterbottle for themselves, snacks are provided by BlackBox)
Students will take home lots of information and tools to help them in the theatrical world! Every student will recieve a camp T-shirt, Tote bag and name tag. They will also take home all crafts and informational papers provided during the camp.
Parents should arrive at 7:30am June 8th to fill out emergency contact, T-shirt, and field trip consent forms

We have a limited number of scholarships available for this years summer camp. To apply for a summer camp schoalrship please email Emmi Rakoci at emmirakoci.theatre@gmail.com .
Those applying will be required to fill out a google form and submit a 200 word essay on what this scholarship would mean to you. (More info will be sent with the link to the google form)
